WASHINGTON, D.C.-A Pendleton man will spend nine months in prison for his role in the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Jonathanpeter Allen Klein, 24, who previously pleaded guilty to one count of civil disorder and one count of assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, was sentenced on Dec. 3.

According to the Department of Justice, Klein must also serve 36 months of supervised release and pay $3,000 in restitution.

Klein attended the “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6, marched toward the Capitol and eventually entered the Capitol building where he threw an audio-visual container lid and hit a Metropolitan Police Department officer in the head, knocking them down, according to court documents.

The Kleins were part of a group that forced open the north door to the Capitol, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage, according to the DOJ.

Jonathanpeter and Mathew Klein were arrested in Oregon in March of 2021.
