KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.-One person was hospitalized after being hit by a car on I-82 near Ellensburg on Dec. 15.
The pedestrian was standing on the left shoulder of eastbound I-82 near milepost 7, about eight miles east of Ellensburg when they were hit around 6:19 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.
A Ford Fusion, driven by a 37-year-old Sunnyside woman reportedly hit the pedestrian after leaving the roadway while trying to avoid a previous crash.
The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Surrey, British Columbia man, was transported to Kittitas Valley Healthcare after being hit. The driver was uninjured in the crash.
The cause of the crash was driving too fast for conditions, according to the WSP.
