PASCO, Wash.-It’s New Year’s Eve and area roadways could be dangerous due to possible wintry conditions, as well as impaired drivers.

Pasco Police made their first suspected New Year’s Eve DUI arrest after an officer found a teenage driver parked in a roundabout early on the morning of Dec. 31.

When a PPD officer came across the car parked sideways in the roundabout, the 19-year-old driver decided to run from the scene.

According to a Pasco PD social media post, the teen was caught and arrested on suspicion of DUI hit-and-run, failure to stop for police and resisting arrest.

Law enforcement agencies across Washington are urging caution and responsibility when celebrating New Year’s and encourage those who plan on drinking to arrange for a designated driver or rideshare.
