PASCO, Wash. – Firefighters across Benton and Walla Walla Counties are joining crews already on the fire lines of the destructive and deadly wildfire raging in Los Angeles County.
The Pasco Fire Department announced a regional task force comprised of firefighters from Benton County Fire District #1, Benton County Fire District #2, Walla Walla Fire Department, Walla Walla County District #4 and Walla County District #5 will assist in the firefighting effort.
“Resources that are being sent down there, type one engines, and it’s what’s called a task force. So, kind of a mixture of wildland and structural engines in this case. And the strike team leader or task force leader is Captain Brandon Burton from Pasco Fire. And he’ll be the one that will lead that task force as they go down into California,” Tim Harkins, Deputy Chief of Operations with the Pasco Fire Department said.
The fire crews will work over an 18-day rotation, Deputy Chief Harkins added.
