PASCO, Wash. – An uptick in copper thefts at Pasco businesses is under investigation by the Pasco Police Department.
PPD says the thefts are not only causing “significant financial losses,” but also creating safety hazards for the community.
PPD recommends securing outdoor equipment including pipes and wiring to prevent copper theft. Motion-activated lights or surveillance cameras can also be effective in vulnerable areas.
Police say to contact them to report any suspicious activity, like people loitering near utility poles, breaker boxes, outside AC units, construction sites, semi-truck connector lines or backs of businesses.
