A paralyzed dog that was found abandoned in a freezing landfill is searching for a forever home this Christmas.
Harley, a Border Collie mix, was found in Turkey this February scavenging for food and shelter in the middle of a harsh winter.
The two-year-old dog was brought to the UK in October by rescuers and vets decided against amputation for his back legs – instead, he now has his own wheelchair.
Isabel Dowsett, founder of Help Street Cats and Dogs, said: “Finding Harley in that condition absolutely broke our hearts.
“We believe he was hit by a car and dumped in the landfill to die.
“Harley had zero chance of finding a forever home there and we wanted to give him a second chance here in the UK.
“He is a special dog for a special person to open their home and heart.”
Harley is currently living with foster Yvette Hart in Ipswich, Suffolk, while he searches for a new home.
Hart said: “Harley is a joy to care for. He brightens our day with his cheeky, mischievous nature.
“Do not be fooled by his disability. He can run and chase like other able-bodied dogs.
“Harley has suffered so much hardship and truly deserves a loving family. I hope someone out there steps up and considers adopting this adorable little boy.”
His potential adopter is being advised that his paralysis requires special care as Harley uses a wheelchair and wears boots or a drag bag to protect his feet.
He can live with other dogs and is good with cats and children.
