PORTLAND, Ore.-Pacific Power utility crews from the Northwest are headed to Georgia to help restore power after Hurricane Helene.
Utility crews, personnel and equipment are being sent from Medford, Bend, Roseburg, Astoria and Grants Pass in Oregon, as well as from Walla Walla and Yakima in Washington, according to Pacific Power.
“Our crews are fully prepared and ready to respond as they work tirelessly through the deployment to restore power to customers in Georgia and to support our fellow line-crews across the affected states,” said Tom Eide, vice president of operations at Pacific Power.
Pacific Power is heading to Georgia as part of a nationwide network of utilities that provides mutual aid during emergencies and disasters.
Georgia Power requested mutual assistance from Pacific Power and the utility responded with 22 employees, 20 trucks and equipment to help restore power, according to a press release on the deployment.
“Disasters can happen anywhere, and part of being a good neighbor is answering the call to help,” said Eide.
