KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.-Washington State has seen an increase in opioid overdoses since August and the Kittitas County Public Health Department is now asking the community to help prevent overdoses.
The reason behind the spike in opioid overdoses is unknown, however, it may be due to opioids that are more potent or that are being combined with other drugs, according to KCPHD.
Steps to help prevent opioid overdoses.
Be alert to the uptick of overdoses and help raise awareness by sharing information.Carry Naloxone, which can help reverse an opioid overdose.Do not be afraid to call 911 if you see someone overdose. Good Samaritan/Overdose Laws protect you and the victim from criminal charges.
KCPHD is also reminding residents of the resources available locally to help fight opioid addiction and overdose.
