YAKIMA, Wash.-One person is in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Yakima on the morning of March 14.
The shooting happened in the area of Thorton Lane and Buwalda Lane after a short pursuit of a stolen car, according to the YPD.
YPD officers reportedly found a stolen car with someone inside in North Yakima around 7:10 a.m.
After a pursuit, the person in the car stopped at an apartment complex and ran.
According to the YPD, officers chased the suspect through the apartment complex and an officer shot the suspect multiple times. When the suspect was taken into custody a gun was found nearby.
The suspect is reportedly being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The officer who shot the suspect has been placed on paid administrative leave.
The Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit is now investigating the shooting.
