PROSSER, Wash. – One person is dead following a multiple vehicle accident on westbound I-82 at milepost 83 near Prosser.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reports that a 35-year-old man from Grandview was driving eastbound on I-82 when he crossed the median and collided head-on with a vehicle traveling westbound. A semi truck with trailer was also involved.
The deceased driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to Prosser Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office also assisted the WSP with traffic control and clearing of the accident. Westbound traffic on I-82 was closed while the accident was cleared, but has now been reopened.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
