One dead after rollover near Prosser, driver arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-One person is dead after a single-car crash near Prosser on Oct. 20.

Benton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene on Wilgus Road south of W. Johnson Road shortly after 6 p.m.

The passenger of the car, a 22-year-old woman was ejected during the rollover and died at the scene, according to the BCSO. The 19-year-old driver was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The BCSO investigation developed probable cause that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash and obtained a search warrant to verify intoxicant levels for the driver.

The car involved in the crash was reported stolen out of Yakima, according to Yakima Police.

After receiving medical care, the driver was booked into the Benton County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide and taking a motor vehicle without permission, according to the BCSO.
