Officer-involved shooting in Toppenish under investigation

TOPPENISH, Wash.-An officer-involved shooting in Toppenish on the morning of June 6 is now under investigation.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. on the 400 block of S. Toppenish Street when a Toppenish Police officer was dispatched to assist the Yakima Nation Tribal Police with a disturbance call, according to the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit.

An armed person on scene was reportedly shot by the officer.

Aid was provided and the suspect was then transported to the hospital and detained.

The Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit is now investigating the shooting.
