October fun in full swing at local pumpkin patches

With the start of October and the fall season, pumpkin patches across the nation are starting to open up to the public and allow people to pick their perfect pumpkins and partake in family-friendly activities.

Here are some pumpkin patches and other fall events opening up in the Tri-Cities, Yakima, Walla Walla and northeast Oregon:

Job’s Nursery-PASCO, Wash.

Job’s Nursery and Pumpkin Patch is located 4072 Columbia River Rd and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Job’s offers a 2.5 acre u-pick pumpkin patch through October 31.

Middleton Farms’ Fall Festival – PASCO, Wash.

Middleton’s Fall Festival kicked off last month on September 16 and will continue until October 29 featuring a pumpkin patch, a Super Mario-themed corn maze, a hayride through the fields, food and more.

The Fall Festival is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets can be purchased on Middleton’s website. General admission tickets for Saturdays and Sundays are $18.95 while Thursdays and Fridays are $15.95. Seniors and military get in for $15.95 any day. There is also a season pass available for the whole season for $49.95.

Middleton Farms is located at 1050 Pasco Kahlotus Road.

Queensgate Gardens – RICHLAND, Wash.

Queensgate Gardens in Richland features a wide variety of pumpkins and activities for kids and families including pumpkin painting, a straw bale maze, archery for all ages, a fishing pond and more.

There is also a selection of flowers and plants available for purchase that changes regularly. Local produce including apples, corn, onions and more are also available.

Entry is free, though donations are encouraged to continue the event next year.

Queensgate Gardens is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fishing and archery is available from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and available all day on Saturdays and Sundays

Queensgate Gardens is located at 1040 Queensgate Drive.

Country Mercantile’s Harvest Festival – FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.

The Country Mercantile returned on September 30 with its Harvest Festival, featuring pumpkin picking, a corn maze, a new mining camp attraction, a race track, carnival rides and games, treats and more.

The Harvest Festival is open every day until October 31 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekend.

Admission during the week is $12.95 plus tax and $13.95 on the weekend. Children two and under enter for free and military and seniors get $2 off.

Country Mercantile is located at 232 Crestloch Road north of Pasco.

Thompson’s Farm & Market – NACHES, Wash.

Thompson’s Farm is a family-owned farm with a market open from June through October with pumpkins and other activities available like hayrides, a maze, gem mining, chickens to feed, apple picking and more.

The pumpkin patch is open every Saturday and Sunday in October from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the patch is free.

Thompson’s Farm is located at 9535 Old Naches Highway.

Echo Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch – ECHO, Ore.

The Echo Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch in Echo, Oregon features pumpkins, an 8-acre corn maze, smaller mazes for young children, a zip line and many more activities for families.

Admission is $10 for anyone three and up with children two and under entering for free. An all day pass is also available for $12 which allows visitors to leave to visit Echo and return the same day without having to pay again. Certain activities and fire pit rentals cost extra.

The event goes from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays throughout October.

Echo can be found off of I-84 in Umatilla County. The Echo Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch is located at 300 North Dupont Street.

Wolfies Pumpkins – BENTON CITY, Wash.

Wolfies Pumpkins is a family-owned pumpkin farm in Benton City which is holding and attending several fall-themed events throughout October along with games and photo opportunites.

The farm is open on Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking is free.

Upcoming events include an ice cream meetup on October 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Goose Ridge Fall Market on October 12 from noon to 8 p.m. and pumpkin patch super-mini sessions on October 13 and 14.

The farm is located at 54715 North Frazier Road in Benton City.

Walla Walla Corn Maze – WALLA WALLA, Wash.

The Walla Walla Corn Maze returned on September 29 featuring a large corn maze in the shape of Medusa’s head, food and more.

The maze starts its “scary hours” on October 13 with fireworks at sunset. The full list of hours and the dates for those hours can be found on the maze’s website.

For regular hours, people 12 and older get in for $15, kids between 4 and 11 get in for $10 and must be accompanied by someone 16 or older and kids 3 and under get in for free with a parent or guardian.

For scary hours, entrance to the maze is $20 per person and anyone 11 or under must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.

The Walla Walla Corn Maze notes that attendees should bring their own flashlights and that phone service is poor in the area.

The Walla Walla Corn Maze is located at 853 Five Mile Road in Walla Walla.
