No prison time for Walla Walla man convicted of possessing child pornography

A Walla Walla man has been sentenced to three years in community custody for possessing child sexual abuse images on his phone.

On May 2, 2024, Walla Walla Police executed a search warrant at the home of Richard Eugene Price, 77.

According to court documents, “more than 4,000 files containing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct were located on his device”.

Price originally pleaded not guilty in Walla Walla County Court but later agreed to a plea bargain on amended charges of Viewing Depictions of a Minor Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct in the Second Degree.

The plea agreement and sentencing on January 6, 2025 means Price will not have to serve any prison or jail time besides the six days he’s already served.

The conditions of his release include:

Refrain from possessing or consuming controlled substances, including marijuana unless lawfully prescribedStay at least 500 feet away from all places where children under the age of 16 are presentRefrain from direct or indirect contact with any minor child under the age of 18Participate in crime-related treatment or counseling services Shall obtain a mental health evaluation with a certified sex offender treatment providerShall begin any recommended mental health treatment Shall comply with all internet restrictions imposed by the Department of Corrections including “net nanny” software, limits on internet use and access and limits on types and numbers of devices and storage materialsMust register as a sex offender
