No injuries reported in 250-acre fire on Neff Road in Prescott, state resource mobilized

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — No one was harmed in a fire that grew an estimated 250 acres on Neff Road near Prescott on Saturday, June 15.

The Washington State Fire Marshal mobilized assistance for the fire which started at 2:22 p.m. and burned grass, brush, crops and buildings. The fire also threatened nearby homes, triggering LEVEL 1: Ready evacuations for residents near Neff Road.

The Marshal’s Office said Walla Walla North County Fire District Chief of Jim Ruffcorn requested the support from state resources. Fire specialists and a strike team from Camp Murray joined county crews in battling the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
