New standardized food truck inspection program takes effect in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash.-Food trucks in the Richland area can now benefit from a standardized inspection process.

The Richland Fire Marshal’s Office announced its participation in the Washington State Association of Fire Marshal’s food truck inspection program on Sept. 25.

The food truck inspection program is expected to streamline inspections and increase the safety of food trucks, according to a social media post from Richland Fire and Emergency Services.

The Washington State Food Truck Inspection Program included the following features for food truck owners.

WSAFM Checklist Inspection: Food trucks may now undergo a checklist inspection from any participating agency, including local fire departments.Annual Renewal: The WSAFM permit obtained must be renewed each year for safety.Additional Inspections: The local fire department may conduct additional drop-by inspections throughout the year to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Food truck inspections may be scheduled through the Richland Fire Marshal’s Office.
