KENNEWICK, Wash. – The American Red Cross is opening two new facilities in 2025 in the Northwest Region, with one coming to Kennewick.
The new facilities will focus on platelet collection. Platelets are the clotting portion of blood and are important for the health of cancer patients, especially with an expected 36 percent rise in cancer cases by 2040.
The Kennewick facility will expand on platelet collection in the Tri-Cities, while the other will be the first to collect platelets in Seattle.
The Red Cross also says the new sites will support efforts to get the next generation of donors.
