NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three New Orleans police officers were honored for their bravery during a deadly attack on Bourbon Street. Officer Jacobie Jordan, Sergeant Nigel Daggs, and Officer Christian Beyer received an Award of Honor for their actions during the incident.
The officers discharged their weapons, stopping Shamsud Din-Jabbar, who drove a white pickup truck down Bourbon Street, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to dozens more.
District Attorney Jason Williams emphasized the significance of the ceremony. “I want you to realize that these are not only New Orleans heroes, but these are American heroes. Never forget what they did for the people of this community,” Williams said.
Officer Jordan was injured that night, along with Officer Joseph Rodrigue, who was not present at the ceremony as he continues to recover. Although the officers were under strict orders not to speak, they expressed gratitude for the recognition.
