New mural art unveiled at Columbia Gardens in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.-A shipping container turned into a restroom has been repurposed again, this time into a work of art at Columbia Gardens Wine and Artisan Village.

Vinyl wraps depicting yellow floret and white puffball dandelions cover the north side of the container, while the south side features images of heliopsis false sunflowers, according to the Port.

Images of Gaillardia blanket flowers and black-eyed susans that were donated by photographer Victor Hubbard cover the other two sides of the container.

“The previously stark white container offered a perfect canvas to upscale a highly visible yet mundane industrial box, bringing new artwork to the wine and artisan village,” said Tim Arntzen, Port of Kennewick CEO.

The floral imagery was designed by P.S. Media and the wraps were installed by Mustang Signs.

Muralist Cameron Milton provided details and provided the finishing touches for the murals, including painting an electrical conduit to depict the stem of a dandelion.

The dandelion stem is position for a photo opportunity for people to pose with and pretend to blow away the dandelion seeds.
