New information could link Jane Doe found in New Mexico to Benton County

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-New information possibly linking a Jane Doe found in Albuquerque in 1996 to Benton County could help in her identification.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, genealogy research revealed that the young woman, estimated to have been between 14 and 19 when shed died, may have relatives or friends in Phoenix or Benton County.

Forensic artists with the NCMEC used facial reconstruction to produce an image of what the woman may have looked like at the time of her death.

Jane Doe was wearing light blue Levi jeans, a V-neck ribbed sweater and a black lace bra when she was found wrapped in a trash bag in a vacant field near 98th and Tower Road in Albuquerque on May 2, 1996.

Albuquerque police and the NCMEC are asking the public to share the image in the hopes of identifying the woman.

According to the NCMEC, the young woman was between the ages of 14 and 19 and was between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-4, with light brown or reddish hair and light eyes.
