KENNEWICK, Wash.-A new flagpole to honor Vietnam Veterans will be dedicated on Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.

The dedication ceremony will be held at the Vietnam War Memorial located at the southeast base of the Cable Bridge in Kennewick.

The flagpole is part of the memorial to 62 men from the Tri-Cities who died in Vietnam that was installed in 1985, according to the City of Kennewick.

The efforts to refurbish and replace the flagpole were a collaborative effort between the Port of Kennewick, Combat Veterans International Pasco Chapter, Greg Ford, the City of Kennewick and local Veterans led by Kevin Veleke.

The dedication of the new flagpole is open to the public and parking for the event will be available in both the Lampson and Water Follies lots.
