Nearly 200,000 Jeep hybrid SUVs recalled for fire risk

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – 194,000 plug-in hybrid electric Jeep SUVs are being recalled by its Italian-American automaker Stellantis due to fire risks related to a battery component, according to NBC News.

The recall follows 13 reported fires. Owners are urged to park outside and away from other vehicles with their SUV’s batteries depleted until repairs are done

The recall affects some 2020 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022 through 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrids. About 5 percent of affected vehicles likely have the defect.

154,000 of the recalled vehicles come from the United States. 14,000 come from Canada, 700 from Mexico and 26,000 from outside North America, per NBC News.
