Nationwide severe illness outbreak, including one case in Grant County linked to mushroom products

GRANT COUNTY, Wash.-People are being advised to stop eating some mushroom-containing products after they have been linked to a serious illness outbreak across the country.

At least 58 people in 27 states, including one in Grant County in Washington, have developed severe illnesses linked to the mushroom-containing products, according to the Benton Franklin Health District.

The Washington Department of Health, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control are advising people to stop eating all “Diamond Shruumz” brand, mushroom-containing products, including chocolates, gummies, and cones.

As of July 8, 30 illness cases have resulted in hospitalization, according to the BFHD.

Anyone who becomes ill after eating any Diamond Shruumz products should contact Poison Control if they become ill.
