NACHES, Wash. – Naches Valley Middle School has issued a reminder to students and parents about the school’s policy on energy drinks. The reminder was posted on Facebook, emphasizing that energy drinks are not allowed on campus.
Assistant Principal Danielle Holt explained the reason behind the reminder.
“I had just seen an uptick of kids bringing them out, maybe at lunchtime or walking one in in the morning or sharing them with friends after school. So it was a good time for, just a refresher of our expectations,” Holt said.
The school administration noticed students purchasing energy drinks and bringing them to class. Holt said that the focus is on encouraging healthier choices and promoting better habits among students.
Holt said that energy drinks have not been causing behavior issues in the classroom and the emphasis is on improving student health overall.
Since the reminder was posted, Holt mentioned that the response from parents and comments on the Facebook post have been positive.
More information about the Naches Valley Middle School rules can be found in their handbook.
