YAKIMA, Wash.-Downtown Yakima’s Chalk Art Festival is set for Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The theme of the 2024 festival is “Music in Motion” and encourages both artists and visitors to explore the relationship between music and art, according to a Downtown Association of Yakima press release on the event.
Over 20 artists will create chalk murals throughout the festival and will compete in a competition for which mural best represents “Music in Motion.”
Free chalk will be available for attendees from the Downtown Association of Yakima to try their hand at mural drawing and the festival will also include live music and craft and food vendors.
An interactive zone for children will allow young attendees to explore art and music through hands-on activities, according to the DAY.
Volunteers are still needed and the festival is still looking for artists. Those interested can contact Breanna Stratton via email at events@downtownyakima.com.
