MultiCare celebrates 1 year of merger with Yakima Valley Memorial

YAKIMA, Wash. – The MultiCare Health System celebrated one year of merging with the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in January by sharing its accomplishments over the last year.

MultiCare said the goal of the merge from Jan. 2023 was to expand care access and bring new health care professionals into the region.

“Over the last year we’ve had over 100 nurses join our team,” said MultiCare Medical Director Dr. Davenport. “17 new physicians, physicians assistants [and] nurse practitioners to really provide more care to the Yakima population.”

More than 70 clinical support staff members have been added as well and primary care access has grown by 12.4 percent.

MultiCare’s last year also included:

Fiesta de Salud, which returned after a three-year hiatus and provided 1,300 people with free blood pressure checks and 250 backpacks of school supplies.Exceeding its targeted recovery plan by $1 million as health care organizations nationwide struggle financially.Affiliating with Orthopedics Northwest.Graduating 43 nursing assistants from an internal training program.Hosting 16 in-person community benefit sessions for its employees to find the right benefit options.

“As we reflect on our accomplishments in Yakima, we look forward to 2024 of continuing to expand our services fostering greater access to care for the community,” said MultiCare in a statement. “It is a privilege to serve the Yakima community and to remain an active part of it for years to come.”
