Motorcycle gang leader convicted of assault in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-A motorcycle gang leader has been convicted of assault stemming from a 2023 robbery in Walla Walla.

John Smith, 52, of College Place was convicted on two counts of second degree assault on Sept. 18, according to the Walla Walla Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.

In March of 2023, Smith then the President of the Walla Walla area chapter of the Pagan’s Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, threatened two PetSmart employees and pointed what appeared to be a gun at them.

A 30-year-old with Smith at the time of the assault was armed with a bat and was also convicted of assault.

According to the Drug and Gang Task Force Smith was wearing clothing that represented the Pagan’s gang during the assault and the bat from the incident was decorated with colors, lettering and logos related to the Pagan’s.

Smith’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7.
