WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Montana man Alejandre Romero, 36 sentenced to 19 years in prison in connection with 2023 drug charges in Walla Walla.
On Nov. 17, 2023 Walla Walla regional Drug and Gang Task Force with the Walla Walla Police Department Career Criminal Apprehension Team executed two search warrants finding two pounds of fentanyl powder 250 fentanyl pills two pounds of methamphetamines’ and one pound cannabis.
At the time of the search warrants, Romero was in Washington state under an Interstate Compact Agreement with the Montana State Department of Corrections. This agreement allowed him to serve his parole in Washington for previous crimes committed in Montana.
After his arrest Romero was taken back to Montana and released while waiting for a decision on his parole violation. While released Romero starting distributing drugs again and was charged for possession and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl powder.
Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorneys Office worked with Montana federal officials. Walla Walla agreed to drop the charges pending against Romero in exchange for combining his Washington and Montana charges.
On Jan. 2 Romero was sentenced to 19 years and seven months in federal prison.
