UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore.-The investigation into a dead body found northeast of Milton-Freewater on Feb. 18 is ongoing.
Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Cache Hollow Road and Walla Walla River Road for reports of a possible dead body in the area.
According to a UCSO social media post on the investigation, the first Deputy to arrive on the scene confirmed that the dead body of a female was in the area.
The Umatilla County Search and Rescue team assisted in the recovery of the body due to the condition of the terrain.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office and Milton-Freewater Police identified the woman as a 20-year-old who had previously been reported missing out of Milton-Freewater.
The UCSO investigation into the circumstances preceding the woman’s death are ongoing and more information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
