RICHLAND, Wash.- Senior Life Resources Northwest is celebrating 50 years serving local community members in need through its Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels Program.
Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels provides no-cost, nutritious meals to individuals aged 60 and over in Benton and Franklin counties and ensures homebound seniors receive hot meals five days a week, with frozen options for the weekends, according to an SLR press release.
SLR’s Benton-Franklin Council on Aging (B-FCOA), established in 1974 as the Bread ‘n Butter Nutrition Program, transformed into Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels in 1997 and has been serving the community ever since.
According to SLR, Meals on Wheels fills a valuable need in the community with residents aged 65 and up the fastest-growing demographic in the area.
Meals on Wheels relies on community support and donations to serve seniors in the community, serving over 2,400 clients and delivering 257,000 meals in 2023.
More information for Meals on Wheels, including how to sign up or volunteer is available through Senior Life Resources.
