OLYMPIA, Wash.-For the first time ever March will be Women MAKING History Month in Washington.
Governor Jay Inslee signed a proclamation marking the month and the Washington State Women’s Commission has several events planned to celebrate women who are currently shaping the present and future of Washington State.
According to a WSWC press release, the cabinet agency in the Governor’s Office that serves as the primary voice in government for Washington women and girls, the focus of Women MAKING History Month will focus on bridging the gender pay gap in Washington.

Co-Creating the Future of Gender Pay Equity: Panel discussion on March 1 from 4-5:15 p.m. in the State Reception Room in the Capitol Building.Celebrating International Women’s Day: Global Voices on Gender Equity: A discussion on March 8 from 1-2 p.m. in the Women Painters of Washington Gallery at Columbia Center in Seattle.
