OLYMPIA, Wash.-A mandatory manual recount for the Office of Commissioner of Public Lands will start on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The Secretary of State’s Office has directed all counties in the state to conduct the recount individually after Democrat Dave Upthegrove held only a 51 vote lead over Republican Sue Kuehl Pederson in the primary to see who will move on to the General Election, according to KING 5 reporting on the primary.

In Benton County, the recount process, which is expected to take about four days, will begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 24.

All Washington Counties will certify their recount results on Sept. 3 and the Secretary of State’s Office will certify the results statewide on Sept. 4, according to the Benton County Auditor’s Office.
