YAKIMA, Wash.-A former gang member who threatened to burn down a Yakima bar recently pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 57 months in jail.

Alexis Nunez, 23, must also serve three years of supervised release after his sentence ends.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Washington, Nunez was sentenced in March of 2022 to 24 months in prison for two separate felonies.

Nunez was released from prison in July of 2023. In January of 2024 Yakima Police responded to the Little Dutch Inn bar when Nunez became agitated when the bar refused to serve him.

According to witness statements, Nunez reportedly said he would shoot up the bar and burn in down, while bragging about recently being released from prison.

“Alcohol, firearms, and felons can be a deadly combination,” said Vanessa Waldref, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington. “Mr. Nunez made violent threats to employees and was armed with an illegal firearm.”

Nunez was arrested a short distance from the bar after throwing a handgun after being approached by police. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the gun was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition and marijuana packaged to be sold was also found on Nunez.
