Man suspected of killing 2 women in West Richland, abducting 1-year-old boy possibly spotted in Portland

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -Elias Huizar, the suspect in two murders in West Richland who has been on the run since abducting a one-year-old on April 22, was possibly spotted in Portland.

Portland Police have reportedly advised West Richland PD that Huizar may have been spotted driving a black sedan, rather than the silver one that was reported in the Amber Alert issued on the night of April 22.

West Richland PD is currently following up on the lead and will release more information as it becomes available.

APRIL 22.

Police are searching for the alleged William Wiley Elementary School shooter who reportedly killed his ex-wife and girlfriend and abducted a one-year-old, according to an Amber Alert from the Washington State Patrol.

The Amber Alert, issued around 9:45 p.m. on April 23, reports that law enforcement is searching for Elias Huizar, 39, and Roman Huizar, 1. Elias is reportedly driving a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington plate CBZ4745 and is possibly driving to Mexico, according to WSP.

Huizar is suspected of shooting a woman at William Wiley on Mon., April 22 and killing another at his home, according to the West Richland Police Department. He is also facing charges for child rape from February and was supposed to be in court the same morning.

The initial shooting happened around 3:23 p.m. as students were being released from William Wiley for the day. Several schools were locked down as a result, according to WRPD.

Investigators believe that Huizar is armed and dangerous and may commit more crimes. The public is asked to call 911 if Huizar is seen and the Amber Alert has been extended to include both Washington and Oregon, according to the WRPD.

WRPD confirmed with NonStop Local that Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, was charged in February with child rape. His trial was set for Mon., April 22, however was stricken, according to court documents.

Court documents detailing the February incident say officers were made aware of a possible sexual assault by Huizar of a teenager on Feb. 3 with reports that his underage girlfriend caught him assaulting her 16-year-old friend in his home.

Huizar worked as a police officer for almost nine years, from June 2013 to February 2022.
