ELLENSBURG, Wash.-A suspect has been arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Ellensburg on March 15.
Benny Castizo, 18, was arrested in Western Washington on Aug. 6 and will be extradited back to Kittitas County, according to the Ellensburg Police Department.
Castizo is suspected of killing Christian Guthrie of Ellensburg in the parking lot of the Jack in the Box on the 100 block of West University Way shortly after noon on March 15.
Castizo is believed to have left Ellensburg on the day of the shooting and Ellensburg PD thought him to be on the west side of the state, according to a press release on his arrest.
Law enforcement in Western Washington contacted Castizo in regards to a case unrelated to the shooting and placed him into custody when their investigation revealed he was wanted in Ellensburg.
According to EPD’s press release, Castizo, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, has been charged as an adult in Kittitas County Superior Court.
