YAKIMA, Wash. – A man has been charged with murder and unlawful firearm possession for his alleged involvement in a drive-by shooting that killed a man in Yakima on Aug. 23.

Court documents say Jesse Cesar Urtiz-Perez, 32, allegedly shot and killed Tolerance Jackson, 30 near the intersection of North 18th Avenue and Willow Street.

A probable cause document says two men, one being Jackson, were walking on North 18th Avenue at 3:55 p.m. when a white cargo van drove by and shot at them following a verbal disagreement.

Flock cameras were used to help find the van which officials believe was driven by Urtiz-Perez at the time of the shooting. Investigators also believe that Urtiz-Perez was the person who shot out of the van and hid the firearm under the driver seat.

Court documents note that Urtiz-Perez is also a one-time convicted felon for another drive-by shooting in 2011.

Per the Yakima Police Department, anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Kevin Cays at at (509) 249-6874 or Yakima County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
