Man arrested in Benton County after allegedly fleeing from police in stolen car

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – A man was arrested on Sun., Oct. 13 after allegedly stealing his mom’s car, eluding officers and crashing into multiple police vehicles, according to the Richland Police Department.

On Sat., Oct. 12, RPD officers were sent to a home following a domestic violence report. The officers attempted to arrest a man who had allegedly scratched demonic symbols into his mom’s car, however he ran away.

NonStop Local typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged.

The next day at 9:30 a.m., the mom reported that her son had stolen her car. It was later found entering Benton City.

Deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office found the man in the car outside Palm Tavern. He refused to get out of the car and deputies contacted SWAT, West Richland Police and Pasco Police to assist.

The man allegedly fled in the stolen car, hitting a BCSO car on the way out.

At 10:34 a.m., the man called 911 and revealed his location near 3rd Street and Carol Avenue while making “bizarre demands,” per RPD. He was found, refused to get out of the car and fled again, hitting a WRPD car.

At 11:56 a.m., the man called 911 a second time and was found at a home on Demoss Road. The agencies developed a plan and pinned the car in place, resulting in his arrest without further incident.

According to court documents, the man is under a 72-hour hold for an investigation.
