NEW YORK, N.Y. – The daughters of Malcolm X have filed a lawsuit accusing several law enforcement agencies of involvement in the 1965 assassination of the civil rights leader.

The Associated Press reports that the CIA, FBI, and the New York Police Department are among those named in the lawsuit. The suit was filed in Manhattan earlier today.

The family claims these agencies were aware of and involved in the assassination plot and failed to prevent the killing. For decades, questions have persisted about who was responsible for Malcolm X’s death.

The FBI declined to comment, and other agencies did not immediately respond to interview requests. Malcolm X’s family is seeking $100 million in damages.
