PASCO, Wash.–A Registered Nurse at Lourdes Health was recently awarded The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at the health center.
Pablo Lopez was nominated for the award by two different families, who had a family members on the unit Lopez works on, according to a Lourdes Health press release.
The DAISY Award is an international program that began in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who saw his nurses’ impacts on his experience with an autoimmune disease, the press release said.
The families noticed how Lopez went above and beyond for the patients and staff he works with, and one even spoke about how Lopez made their mom comfortable in the unit, according to the press release. The other family noted their son was struggling with pain after a back surgery, but Lopez quickly turned things around when he started his shift and made sure their son was comfortable throughout the night.
