Local Baptist churches and elected officials hand out holiday meals in Pasco

PASCO, Wash. – 100 meals were handed out to families on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pasco for the annual Turkey Meal Giveaway.

The church, in partnership with DoorDash, was joined by local faith and elected officials from 10 a.m. to noon to hand out turkey, ham and sides to families in need.

“It takes all of us – faith and elected leaders and our business community – to ensure those in our communities have the support they need, including a healthy meal for themselves and their families during the holiday season,” said General Baptist Convention of the Northwest (GBCNW) State President Bishop Garry Tyson.

The elected officials, church leaders and DoorDash representatives bagged and handed out Thanksgiving meals.

“There is no substitute for being hands-on when it comes to serving individuals in our community,” said Pasco Mayor Blanche Barajas. “We see firsthand every day the impact of food insecurity on our students, parents and individuals working to make ends meet.”

Additionally, as part of DoorDash’s Project Dash, local Dashers delivered some meals to the homes of those who could not come to pick up a meal.
