TRI-CITIES, Wash. – As part of a fundraising auction to support the Liberty Christian School, Superintendent Jim Cochran will spend 38 hours on the school’s roof.

The “Raise the Roof” campaign has Cochran spending an hour on the school’s roof for every $200 raised. The live auction raised $7,600, meaning he will have to stay on the roof for 38 hours.

“Tuition and fees only cover about 90 percent of the school’s expenses with the remaining provided through fundraisers and donations,” said Cochran. “The Patriot Auction and Raise the Roof event provide an opportunity to expand the financial support base for the school, keeping tuition rates accessible for families that desire a Christian school education for their students.”

Cochran will head to the roof on Mon., May 20 during an afternoon assembly and will stay there until Wednesday morning. He will have a tent, a stove, food and supplies for the two nights.

The auction raised funds for the Annual Patriot Fund, a fund that goes directly to the school, and a campaign for renovations for the school’s Fine Arts Wing.

“This is a great way to engage the students and have some fun!” said Cochran. “

I’ll be wandering the roof and checking out recesses and outside activities, as well as getting a little work done. I operate with an ‘open door’ policy in the office, so I guess this will be an ‘open roof’ for those that need to connect.”
