WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Washington State Fire Marshal mobilized assistance for an estimated 250-acre fire on Neff Road near Prescott on Saturday, June 15.
According to a press release issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire started at 2:22 p.m. and burned grass, brush, crops and buildings. The fire also threatened nearby homes, triggering LEVEL 1: Ready evacuations for residents near Neff Road.
The Marshal’s Office said Walla Walla North County Fire District Chief of Jim Ruffcorn requested the support from state resources. Fire specialists and a strike team from Camp Murray joined county crews in battling the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
