Lessons with Laynie: Line dancing

TRI-CITIES, Wash.- The County Line Dancers are a Tri-Cities based line dancing group for women and men of all ages. Coach and founder of the County Line Dancers, Mandy Hendrickson, grew up line dancing and wanted to share it in the community.

“I moved here back in 2009 and I realized there really isn’t much line dancing here in the Tri-Cities,” said Hendrickson. It was her love for dance that inspired her to start the County Line Dancers group this summer.

“It’s been amazing, I’ve met some great friends and we all have just been coming together and making this dream happen.”

Hendrickson recommends line dancing for a workout but also to improve mental health.

County Line Dancer, Melissa Pettyjohn said she feels empowered when she dances.

“Getting out there and strutting our stuff, it’s getting me out of my comfort zone,” said Pettyjohn.

Line dancer, Diana Roesly said, “Instead of sitting in front of the TV, we are dancing here.”

The County Line Dancers are committed to their craft, with most dancers attending practices and additional lessons several nights a week.
