KENNEWICK, Wash.-March 14, 3-14, is National Pi Day, a day to celebrate the ratio of a circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159.
The digits of Pi have been calculated to over 50 trillion numbers beyond its decimal point, according to piday.org. If that sounds confusing, Pi day is also just a good excuse to enjoy some baked pies.
NonStop Local’s Dan Hanson visited Layered Cake Artistry in Kennewick and traded his reporter’s hat for an apron and chef’s hat to try his hand at making pies with co-owner Concetta Gulluni and, of course, to sample their delicious products.
Layered Cake Artistry, located at 117 W. Kennewick Ave, specializes in creating gourmet cookies and cakes and everything sweet in between, including pies.
