KPD investigate man who pulled a gun on a driver he nearly hit after running a stop sign

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Police arrested a man who fled the scene after crashing into a fence line and pointing a gun at a nearby driver he nearly hit after running a stop sign on Sunday.

According to the Kennewick Police Department, a 25-year-old man got out of his car after running a stop sign and hitting the fence line. The same man then began arguing with a driver he nearly hit. Witnesses report seeing the 25-year-old man draw and point a gun at the driver before running away. The man ran to an apartment complex south of West Canal Drive. Police responded to the scene around noon.

Police later found the man inside an apartment who cooperated with investigators. KPD put the man into custody, and Pasco Police used K9 units to track the gun used. The K9’s located an extended pistol magazine near the scene. Police later located the pistol in the same apartment where they arrested the suspect.

The man was booked into the Benton County Jail and charged with Assault in the second degree, Hit-and-Run, Driving Under The Influence, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Firearms.
