KENNEWICK, Wash.- UPDATE SEPTEMBER 27 2:41 p.m. Joshua Riley, Kennewick Police Department Detective has been charged with two counts of assault 2nd degree with a deadly weapon.
He is now being held on a $25,000 bail.
Riley’s next court appearance will be Friday, September, 29.
UPDATE: 4:28 p.m. According to Benton County Prosecutor, Eric Eisinger, the Kennewick Police Detective arrested on suspicion of assault has not been charged.
According to Eisinger, the county is currently looking for a special prosecutor to handle the case to avoid any conflicts of interest.
According to court documents, the detective is currently being held on a 72-hour hold for felony investigation, the hold will expire on Wednesday September 27.

A Kennewick Police Detective has been arrested after an alleged assault with a weapon on September 24.
Kennewick Police began investigating an alleged assault shortly after midnight. According to the Department, when it became evident that the case involved a KPD Detective, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office was requested to take over the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old KPD Detective was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault in the 2nd degree. According to court documents he is being held on a 72-hour felony investigation hold.
