KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Kennewick Irrigation District is ending its mandatory watering schedule on Sunday, Aug. 4.

While the mandatory schedule that allowed residents to water based on their house numbers is ending, the KID is encouraging residents to stick to a voluntary watering schedule through the rest of the irrigation season.

“We are incredibly grateful for the cooperation and water-saving efforts of our community during this challenging drought period,” said Shane Leonard, District Manager of the Kennewick Irrigation District

Drought conditions are expected to remain moderate throughout the rest of the irrigation season in mid-October, according to the KID.

The voluntary watering schedule remains the same as the mandatory schedule that had been in effect through most of July and can be found online on the KID website.

The KID is encouraging customers to continue watering wisely and to use efficient irrigation methods, such as drip systems.
