KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) – The Kennewick teachers association and administrators in eastern Washington have reached a tentative agreement that would bring an end to a strike that closed classrooms this week.
The Tri-City Herald reports the Kennewick Education Association announced at 6:30 p.m. Thursday that a tentative agreement was reached with the district.
Kennewick School District executive director of communications and public relations Robyn Chastain indicated in a statement that teachers would have a general membership meeting at 10 a.m. Friday to hold a ratification vote.
School will be canceled Friday as teachers review the new contract proposal.
School has been canceled since Tuesday after teachers went on strike.
The closure has impacted 19,000 students and about 13,000 families.
