Kennewick police urge vigilance after armed car prowler arrest

KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Kennewick Police Department is urging residents to stay vigilant following the arrest of an armed car prowler.

Officers responded to a call about a car prowler early Monday morning on the 300 block of East 8th Place in Kennewick. An officer found an 18-year-old suspect inside a car that did not belong to him.

Despite being warned to stay put, the suspect walked away and threw an unloaded gun under a different car.

Additional officers arrived on the scene, and the suspect was arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail.

In light of this arrest, the Kennewick Police Department is sharing safety tips with the community. They encourage the public to report any suspicious activity to help stop crimes in progress.

The department also reminds residents that even “low level” crimes like prowling can escalate quickly. They advise, “If you see something, say something,” and report it to Kennewick Dispatch at 509-628-0333.
