KENNEWICK, Wash. – Officers from the Kennewick Police Department received help from residents in capturing a loose steer early Friday morning.

KPD said in an early morning Facebook post that officers were working to control a runaway bull in the area of East 10th Avenue and South Gum Street.

Officers reportedly knocked on nearby doors in an attempt to find the bull’s owners. In the process, officers met Kennewick residents Marina and Sergio, who had experience working with bulls and offered to help.

Officers later cornered the bull in the area of East 10th Avenue and Beech Street where Marina and Sergio lassoed the bull and tied it to a tree to prevent it from running down the street.

Marina and Sergio both received $100 gift cards for their work as part of the department’s Positive Policing Program. The program rewards community members that selflessly help KPD keep the community safe.
